Motorway Conversations
Perplekcity programmed a discussion about the future of the city in collaboration with AIR (Architecture Center Rotterdam) and Festival de Keuze. The theme of the discussion was the most undervalued element of the cities: the motorway.
Ever since the motorway was created, it has formed part of the designers’ visionary views on the urban landscape. But what would happen to the motorways if we did not focus our attention on the views, but on the urban life itself? How could they become pleasant accommodations, which form a logical part of city life?
Journalist Geert Maarse in conversation with artist / architect John Körmeling, artist Ruud Reutelingsperger (Observatorium) and architects Thomas Cattrysse and Simon De Waepenaere. In words and images, they provide their view on the motorway as part of the urban theatre.
