Urban Ant City
URBAN ANT CITY
STUDIO 1:1 designed a city for the ant colony to live and work in. The first spatial installation of OMI, ‘Urban Ant City’ is a living city map of Rotterdam. Hundreds of Spanish ants find their way through the functionally planned city, designed by architects and urban planners. In the existing street plan, the ants create organic alternative routes, gradually developing a new Rotterdam. Spanish ants are taking control over Rotterdam’s architectural icons such as Markthal, Central Station and Van Nelle Factory.
